Happy Feast of St. Mark!

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist.  From the Collect (Roman Missal, 3rd edition):

O God, who raised up Saint Mark, your Evangelist, and endowed him with the grace to preach the Gospel, grant, we pray, that we may so profit from his teaching as to follow faithfully in the footsteps of Christ. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Theology is the study of life

When we study God we are not just trying to understand who God is.  We are also attempting to learn the answers to the deep questions of life:  “Why am I here?”; “Why is there suffering?”;  “Am I loved?”; “What does it mean to be human?”; “What gives life meaning and purpose?”, etc.

As we come to know God, we come to know ourselves and gain answers.  This is why it is it important for us who have faith to continue to study the One who gave us life.  When we have big questions, this is not an indication of doubt but rather, as St. Anselm said, it is “faith seeking understanding.”

The Dating Project

the dating project

Dating in today’s day and age seems to be an antiquated thing.  In the last few decades, the meaning of dating has changed from courtship, or finding a suitable person to marry one day to hooking up for casual sex.  The definition of the term has gotten so obscure, even lost, that many young people honestly don’t know what the concept of dating is.  They’ve never even heard of it.  The movie, “The Dating Project” seeks to change that.  It will be showing in Kennewick on April 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Columbia Mall 8.  For more information, go to:  https://www.thedatingprojectmovie.com/
