Saint Ignatius of Loyola – July 31

Wisdom Wed

“Everything that one turns in the direction of God is a prayer.”

~ St. Ignatius of Loyola

“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, all I have and call my own.  You have given all to me.  To You, Lord, I return it.  Everything is yours; do with it what you will.  Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.”

~ Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola (Suscipe)

Saint Declan of Ardmore – July 24

Wisdom Wed

“He received marks of honour and sincere affection from the people and clergy of Rome when they came to understand how worthy he was, for he was comely, of good appearance, humble in act, sweet in speech, prudent in counsel, frank in conversation, virtuous in mien, generous in gifts, holy in life and resplendent in miracles.”

~ The Life of Saint Declan of Ardmore, edited and translated from the 12th c. text by Rev. Patrick C Power, 2914

Saint Thomas the Apostle – July 3

Wisdom Wed

“Then He said to Thomas, ‘ Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.’ Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘ Because you have seen Me had you believed?  Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.'”

~ John 20:27-29

Monthly Meditation – JULY

“Our first great responsibility is to be a family, a community, revealing first to one another something of God’s own love and concern and tenderness.  ‘See how they love one another.’ Being so close to each other it is possible to miss God’s love and goodness that is to be found in those who are so near to us.  We need to help each other to forget the everyday deficiencies and to start a new life every day in the joy of Jesus.”

~ Saint Theresa of Calcutta

For reflection:

  1. Do I reveal God’s love, concern, and tenderness to my own family?
  2. If not, what things can I change so that the members of my own family don’t miss the love and goodness of God?
  3. What can I do start a new life everyday in the joy of Jesus?

The Integrity of Justice
That those who administer justice may work with integrity, and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the last word.
